The Power of Remembering

Memory is powerful. When we forget the sacrifices made for our freedom, we begin to take that freedom for granted. This happens both nationally and spiritually. When Americans forget the cost of liberty, we become careless with our freedoms. When Christians forget the cross, something equally dangerous happens: sin creeps in, gratitude fades, and passion dies. The solution is intentional remembrance. Just as we set aside Memorial Day to honor fallen soldiers, we must regularly return to Calvary with eyes wide open to what Christ accomplished there. If we truly grasped the magnitude of His sacrifice—the sinless Son of God taking our place, bearing our punishment, purchasing our freedom with His own blood—we wouldn't be so quick to wander back into sin's territory. Regular remembrance keeps our hearts tender, our gratitude fresh, and our commitment strong. Every time we gather for worship, we're creating a memorial to remember what Jesus has done for us.

Bible Verse

'And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me."' - 1 Corinthians 11:24
