Living Like You Are Free
After God delivered Israel from Egypt, He gave them a crucial command: remove all leaven from your houses. This wasn't just about bread—it was about living differently. God was essentially saying, "I've brought you out of Egypt, now don't live like you're still there." The same principle applies to us today. When Christ sets us free from sin, we can't continue living as if we're still enslaved. Imagine American POWs being released from a Vietnamese prison camp but choosing to stay in their cells, eating prison food and following prison rules. That would be absurd! Yet many Christians do exactly this—they've been freed from sin's prison but continue living like inmates. True freedom means actively choosing to live differently, removing the "leaven" of old sinful patterns from our lives. It's not enough to be delivered; we must live like the delivered people we are.
Bible Verse
'It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.' - Galatians 5:1
Reflection Question
What "leaven" in your life needs to be removed so you can truly live as a free person in Christ?
Prayer
Father, help me identify and remove anything that keeps me living like I'm still in bondage. I want to live in the freedom You've given me. Amen!
