Raising Spiritual Children
Every Father wants to see His children succeed. But what does success actually look like? A good
career, financial stability, and a comfortable life are not bad things. But they are not the finish line. Third John 1:4 gives us a different measuring stick entirely. John writes that he has no greater joy than to hear that his children walk in the truth. Not that they walk in wealth. Not that they walk in fame. In the truth. Godly fatherhood means keeping that goal front and center. Your responsibility is not merely to raise successful children. It is to raise spiritual children. Children who know God, love His Word, and walk in His ways. And that kind of instruction does not happen by accident. Deuteronomy 6 tells us to talk about God’s commands when we sit at home, when we walk along the road, when we lie down, and when we get up. Spiritual formation is woven into the everyday moments of family life. Your children are watching how you handle stress, how you treat your spouse, and whether your Sunday morning faith shows up on Monday. Authenticity is the most powerful teaching tool you have.
Bible Verse
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." - 3 John 1:4
Reflection Question
If your children were to describe your faith based only on what they observe at home, what would they say about it?
Prayer
Lord, help me to make my greatest goal not my children’s success, but their walk with You. Give me
the consistency and authenticity to point them to truth every single day. Amen.
