When God Draws the Line

There is a moment in the story of Moses that is easy to overlook, but it is one of the most powerful

details in all of Exodus. When God sent the final plague, not even a dog barked at the Israelites. In the middle of devastation, God made a clear distinction between His people and those who were not. God sees you. He knows exactly where you are, and He is able to protect and set apart those who belong to Him. That is not a small thing. It is a declaration of His faithfulness to the people He calls His own. But this passage also carries a sobering weight. Out of the two million Israelites who left Egypt, only two, Joshua and Caleb, were fully committed to the covenant they made with God. They were the only ones from that generation who entered the Promised Land. Commitment to God is not a casual thing. It is a covenant. And God takes it seriously. The good news is that His grace is available to every one of us. The question is whether we will take our commitment to Him as seriously as He takes His commitment to us.

If you honestly evaluated your commitment to God today, would you say you are fully surrendered, or are you holding something back?

Lord, I want to be fully Yours. Reveal the areas where I have held back, and give me the courage and grace to surrender them completely to You. Amen.
