When Blessings Become Barriers
There's a dangerous pattern in how we relate to Jesus. When He's providing for our needs, healing our bodies, and blessing our lives, we're all in. We sing His praises and tell others about His goodness. But the moment He confronts our sin or calls us to live differently, suddenly we have a problem with Him. This isn't new - it happened during Jesus' earthly ministry too. The same crowds who celebrated Him on Palm Sunday were shouting for His crucifixion just days later. Why? Because Jesus brought a cross instead of a crown. He offered deliverance from sin instead of deliverance from Rome. He spoke of a heavenly kingdom instead of an earthly one. The truth is, Jesus has standards for those who follow Him. Since He paid the ultimate price for us, He has the right to expect us to live for Him. This isn't about earning salvation - it's about responding to the love that saved us. When we truly understand what Jesus did for us, living for Him becomes our joy, not our burden.
Bible Verse
'For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.' - Luke 19:10
Reflection Question
Are there areas in your life where you welcome Jesus' blessings but resist His lordship?
Prayer
Father, help me to love Jesus not just for what He gives me, but for who He is. Give me the courage to surrender every area of my life to His loving authority.
