He Came in Peace
When Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, He chose a donkey - not a warhorse. This wasn't random; it was prophetic. Kings rode horses when going to war, but donkeys when coming in peace. Jesus was making a statement about His mission. He didn't come to overthrow governments or establish an earthly kingdom through force. He came to make peace between humanity and God. The crowds missed this entirely. They wanted a political savior who would solve their immediate problems and give them the comfortable life they desired. But Jesus had something far more important in mind - dealing with the sin that separates us from our Creator. Today, we often make the same mistake. We want Jesus to fix our circumstances, heal our bodies, and bless our plans. While He certainly cares about these things, His primary mission remains the same: to reconcile us to God through His sacrifice. Are you looking for Jesus to be your political solution, your personal genie, or your Savior and Lord?
Bible Verse
'Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.' - Zechariah 9:9
Reflection Question
In what areas of your life are you expecting Jesus to be your 'political king' rather than accepting His role as the Prince of Peace?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me to see You as You truly are - the King who came in peace to reconcile me to God. Give me the wisdom to seek Your kingdom first, not just my earthly comfort. Amen.
