The Urgency of Today
There's a sobering reality we must face: the Holy Spirit's call to salvation doesn't last forever. Like a patient teacher who eventually moves on when students consistently refuse to learn, God's Spirit draws us to salvation, but He won't draw indefinitely. Each time we hear His voice and turn away, our hearts grow a little harder, and His voice becomes a little quieter. This isn't because God stops loving us or gives up easily. Rather, it's because persistent rejection of His grace leads to spiritual callousness. The very mechanism designed to save us - our conscience and spiritual sensitivity - becomes damaged through repeated rejection. The religious leaders experienced this tragic progression. They had countless opportunities to respond to Jesus, but each rejection made the next one easier. Eventually, they reached a point where they could witness the resurrection of Lazarus and still plot murder. Their hearts had become so hardened that even the most obvious display of divine power couldn't penetrate their spiritual darkness.
But here's the hope: if you're reading this and feeling the Holy Spirit's gentle tug on your heart, He's still calling. Today is still the day of salvation. Don't assume you'll have another opportunity tomorrow- respond to His love today. His arms are open, His grace is sufficient, and His invitation is genuine.
Bible Verse
'I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.' - 2 Corinthians 6:2
Reflection Question
If the Holy Spirit is drawing you today, what's keeping you from responding to His call right now?
Prayer
Holy Spirit, thank You for Your patient love and persistent call. Help me respond to Your invitation today rather than putting it off until tomorrow.
