Shining in the Darkness: Christ’s Light in You
This is day 3 of a 5-day devotional on the symbols of Christmas.
Christmas lights transform the darkest nights of winter into something beautiful. But these twinkling decorations represent something far more significant than holiday cheer - they represent Jesus Christ as the light of the world.
Darkness has always represented evil, despair, and separation from God. But when Jesus came into the world, He brought light that darkness cannot overcome. He didn't just bring light; He IS the light. And here's the amazing part - when you accept Christ, His light comes to live inside you.
Think about how one small flashlight can change a pitch-black room. It doesn't matter how dark it is; even the smallest light makes a difference. That's what happens when Christ's light shines through you. You don't have to be perfect or have all the answers. You just need to let His light shine. But here's the challenge: you cannot claim to have Christ's light in you while choosing to walk in darkness. The light of Jesus should be evident in how you treat others, the words you speak, the choices you make, and the love you show. Every good thing you do as a Christian flows from the light of God in your life. This Christmas, don't just admire the lights on your house or tree.
Ask yourself: Is Christ's light shining through me? Am I illuminating the darkness around me, or am I hiding His light under a basket?
Bible Verse
'In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.' - Matthew 5:16
Reflection Question

Prayer
Jesus, You are the light of the world. Help me not to hide Your light but to let it shine brightly through my life so others can see You in me. Amen.
