Rewards

Imagine standing at the finish line of the Olympics, watching athletes receive their medals. The judges aren't determining who gets to compete - that was decided when they qualified. Instead, they're celebrating performance and distributing rewards. This is the picture of the judgment seat of Christ, called the bema in Greek. It's not a courtroom where your salvation hangs in the balance; it's a victory platform where your faithful service is rewarded. Every believer will stand before this seat, but not to determine heaven or hell - that was settled when you trusted Christ. Instead, you'll be evaluated on how you lived as a Christian. Some will receive great rewards, others fewer, but none will lose their salvation. This should both comfort and motivate you. Comfort, because your eternal destiny is secure. Motivation, because how you live today matters for eternity. Your daily choices, your acts of service, your faithfulness in small things - they're all being noticed and will be rewarded. You're not just living for today; you're building for eternity.

Bible Verse

'For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.' - 2 Corinthians 5:10

Reflection Question

If you knew that every act of faithfulness today would be rewarded at the bema seat, how would that change your priorities?

Prayer

Lord, help me to live each day with eternity in mind, knowing that my faithful service will be rewarded at Your bema seat. May this truth motivate me to serve You wholeheartedly. Amen.
