Obedience Opens Miracles
Even though Jesus wept at Lazarus's tomb, showing His deep compassion, He still required obedience before performing the miracle. 'Take away the stone,' He commanded. Martha protested -after four days, there would be a terrible smell. It didn't make logical sense to open a tomb. But Jesus insisted: 'Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?' The miracle was contingent on their obedience to do something that seemed pointless and unpleasant. God's power never cancels His compassion, but it does require our cooperation. Before Lazarus could walk out of that tomb, someone had to roll away the stone. Before the miracle could be witnessed, people had to act in faith despite their doubts. This principle still applies today. God often asks us to take steps of obedience that don't make sense before He reveals His power. He might ask you to forgive when you feel justified in your anger, to give when your resources seem insufficient, or to step forward when you can't see the path clearly. It is obedience that positions us to see miracles. Your willingness to do what God asks, even when it seems illogical, creates space for His supernatural intervention in your circumstances.
Bible Verse
'So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me."' - John 11:41
Reflection Question
What is God asking you to do in obedience that doesn't make sense to your natural mind, and how might this obedience position you to witness His miracle?
Prayer
Father, give me the courage to obey You even when Your commands don't make sense to me. Help me trust that my obedience positions me to see Your miraculous power at work. Amen.
