I Am the Resurrection

When Martha met Jesus on the road, she expressed both faith and disappointment: 'Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.' Jesus responded with one of the most powerful declarations in Scripture: 'I am the resurrection and the life.' Notice He didn't say 'I give resurrection' or 'I perform resurrections.' He said 'I AM the resurrection.' This wasn't just about what Jesus could do - it was about who Jesus is. Resurrection power isn't something external that Jesus wields; it's part of His very nature and identity. This means that wherever Jesus is present, death has no final authority. When Jesus shows up, death backs up. This truth extends far beyond physical death. Whatever has 'died' in your life - dreams, relationships, hope, purpose - Jesus has the power to resurrect it. He specializes in bringing life out of death, hope out of despair, and beauty out of ashes. The same power that called Lazarus from the tomb is available to speak life into the dead areas of your existence. Jesus didn't just defeat death once on a cross; He embodies victory over death as part of His eternal character.

Bible Verse

'Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."' - John 11:25

Reflection Question

What 'dead' area of your life needs Jesus to speak resurrection power into it, and how can you position yourself to receive that life?

Prayer

Jesus, You are the resurrection and the life. Speak Your life-giving power into the dead places of my heart and circumstances. Help me believe in Your power to resurrect what seems lost forever. Amen.
