Day 5: Growing Together
Becoming more like Jesus isn't a solo journey—it's a community project. Just as a plant needs the right environment to grow, spiritual growth flourishes best when we're surrounded by others who are also pursuing Christlikeness. This is where discipleship becomes not just personal development, but community transformation.
Discipleship is simply the process of learning from Jesus and helping others do the same. It's not about having all the answers or being spiritually perfect. It's about being one step ahead of someone else and willing to share what you've learned along the way. When we embrace this calling, we create a culture of growth where everyone is both learning and teaching.
The challenge many churches face is that new believers get excited about their faith, but without intentional discipleship, they gradually drift away. They need someone to walk alongside them, answer their questions, and help them navigate the ups and downs of following Jesus. This is where you come in—not as a perfect example, but as a fellow traveler who can share the path.
When we commit to discipling others, we're not just helping them grow; we're strengthening the entire church body. Each person who becomes grounded in their faith becomes someone who can then disciple others, creating a beautiful cycle of spiritual multiplication that sustains long-term church growth and health.
Bible Verse
"Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us." - Romans 12:4-8
Reflection Question
Who could you begin discipling or mentoring in their faith journey, and what specific areas of spiritual growth could you help them develop based on your own experiences with God?
Prayer
Father, thank You for those who have discipled me along the way. Show me who You want me to invest in and give me wisdom to know how to help them grow. Make me a faithful disciple-maker for Your kingdom. Amen.
