The God Who Never Changes

One of the greatest encouragements in all of Scripture is that while the world constantly changes, God never does.
Empires rise and fall.
Economies fluctuate.
Technology advances.
Generations come and go.
Our health changes.
Our circumstances change.
Even our emotions can shift from one day to the next.
But through every season of history and every chapter of our lives, God remains exactly who He has always been.
That truth echoes throughout the Bible.
The God who walked with Noah while the world was under judgment is the same God who walks with His children today.
The God who called Abraham to leave everything familiar is the same God who still leads His people by faith.
The God who strengthened Joshua to enter the Promised Land, who honored Caleb's unwavering faith, and who empowered David to defeat Goliath has not grown weaker with the passing centuries.
He is unchanged.
As your sermon beautifully reminded us, the God who strengthened Noah, Joshua, Caleb, and David is the very same God who walks beside every believer today. Their victories were not the result of extraordinary people but of an extraordinary God who never changes.
Sometimes we read Bible stories as though they belong to another world.
We admire Noah's obedience.
We marvel at Joshua's courage.
We celebrate Caleb's determination.
We cheer David's victory.
Yet we quietly assume that God worked differently then than He does now.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The heroes of Scripture were not extraordinary because of their own strength.
They were ordinary people who placed extraordinary confidence in an extraordinary God.
Hebrews 11 reminds us that they all lived "by faith."
Not by perfect understanding.
Not by exceptional ability.
Not by flawless obedience.
By faith.
The same invitation stands before us today.
When fear whispers that your situation is hopeless, remember that God's power has not diminished.
When uncertainty clouds your future, remember that His wisdom has not failed.
When your strength runs low, remember that His strength never does.
When your heart grows weary, remember that the One who promised, "I will never leave you nor forsake you," cannot break His Word.
Perhaps your greatest struggle today is believing that God will do for you what He did for others.
We often think,
"God answered their prayers, but will He answer mine?"
"God strengthened them, but will He strengthen me?"
"God sustained them, but can He sustain me?"
The answer is found in God's unchanging character.
He is not faithful because His people deserve it.
He is faithful because faithfulness is who He is.
That does not mean every prayer will be answered exactly as we expect.
It does mean that every promise God has made will be fulfilled according to His perfect wisdom and timing.
Faith rests not in favorable circumstances but in the dependable character of God.
Think back over your own life.
How many times has God provided when you could not see a way?
How many times has He comforted you in grief?
How many prayers has He answered?
How many dangers has He quietly protected you from without your even realizing it?
His faithfulness has been present in every season.
The same God who carried you yesterday will carry you tomorrow.
Because He never changes.
As you face whatever giant stands before you today, resist the temptation to measure your strength.
Instead, remember the character of your God.
He has never lost a battle.
He has never broken a promise.
He has never abandoned one of His children.
And He is not about to begin with you.
The God of Noah.
The God of Joshua.
The God of Caleb.
The God of David.
Is your God.
Walk confidently today—not because life is easy, but because your God is forever faithful.

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You that You never change. When everything around me feels uncertain, You remain my Rock and my Refuge. Help me to remember Your faithfulness throughout history and throughout my own life. Strengthen my confidence in Your promises and remind me that You are just as present with me today as You were with Your servants throughout Scripture. Teach me to trust not in my circumstances but in Your unchanging character. Thank You for always being faithful, even when my faith is weak.
