The Word Who Creates

Every word has power, but there's one Word that has ultimate power - Jesus Christ. When John wrote about 'the Word,' he wasn't talking about a book or a message; he was talking about a Person who has existed from eternity and through whom everything was made.

This changes everything about how we read the Bible and understand Jesus. Every time we see 'God' creating in the Old Testament, we're actually seeing Jesus at work. He wasn't just present at creation as an observer - He was the active agent, speaking worlds into existence.

When Jesus walked on earth, He wasn't learning to be God or growing into His divine nature. He was the same Word who had always existed, now taking on human flesh. The hands that the disciples saw were the same hands that had formed Adam from dust. The voice they heard teaching was the same voice that had commanded light to shine in the darkness.

This truth should fill us with awe and confidence. The Jesus we pray to, the Jesus we worship, the Jesus we follow - He is the Creator of everything. He knows every detail of your life because He designed every detail of your life. He understands your struggles because He created the very fabric of the world you're struggling in.

Today, when you speak to Jesus, remember you're speaking to the Word through whom all things were made. He has the power to speak new realities into your circumstances.

Bible Verse

'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.' -John 1:1-3

Reflection Question

How does knowing that Jesus is the Word through whom all things were made change the way you approach Him in prayer?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are the Word through whom all things were made. Help me to approach You with the reverence and confidence that comes from knowing You created everything. Speak into my circumstances today with the same power that spoke the world into existence. Amen.
