The Great Exchange

Picture the most horrific cup you can imagine - filled with every sin, every rebellion, every act of hatred and greed that has ever existed. Now imagine someone you love drinking that cup so you wouldn't have to. That's exactly what Jesus did on the cross. The holy, perfect, sinless Son of God became your sin and mine. This wasn't just a symbolic gesture; it was a real exchange. Your guilt became His guilt. Your shame became His shame. Your punishment became His punishment. And in return, His righteousness became your righteousness. This is why adding anything to salvation is so offensive -it suggests that Jesus' perfect sacrifice wasn't sufficient. If the blood of Jesus Christ wasn't enough to pay for your sins, how could baptism or good works possibly make up the difference? They can't.

The exchange is complete. Your debt is paid in full. You stand before God not in your own righteousness, but clothed in Christ's perfect righteousness.

Bible Verse

'For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him' - 2 Corinthians 5:21

How does understanding the great exchange - your sin for His righteousness - impact the way you see yourself and your relationship with God?

Prayer

Lord, I'm overwhelmed by the great exchange You made on my behalf. Thank You for taking my sin and giving me Your righteousness. Amen.
