Standing Before God, Not Man
Elijah's courage to confront King Ahab came from understanding his true position—he stood before God, not man. When we spend time in God's presence through prayer and worship, our perspective shifts dramatically. The opinions and threats of people become smaller when we're anchored in the reality of who God is. Too many Christians today fear people because they don't spend enough time with God. But when we prioritize our relationship with the Almighty, human approval becomes less important than divine approval. Elijah wasn't emphasizing his boldness to Ahab; he was emphasizing his position before God. This divine positioning gave him supernatural courage to speak truth to power. The same courage is available to you when you remember that you serve an audience of One. Your identity and security come from God's love for you, not from what others think about you.
Bible Verse
'And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word."' - 1 Kings 17:1
