Peace between You and God

This is day four of a five-day devotional on the lowly shepherds and God’s desire to reach everyone.

The angels' song that night proclaimed 'peace on earth.' But this wasn't just wishful thinking about world harmony. This was an announcement of the deepest peace possible - peace between humanity and God. Before Jesus, there was a great divide. Sin had created a chasm between us and our Creator. We were separated, alienated, and unable to bridge the gap on our own. Religious rituals and good works couldn't fix the fundamental problem of our broken relationship with God.

But Jesus changed everything. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He became the bridge. He made peace possible - not just any peace, but the peace that surpasses all understanding. This isn't the temporary calm that comes from favorable circumstances, but the deep, abiding peace that comes from knowing you're right with God. Many people search for peace in all the wrong places - in success, relationships, possessions, or achievements. But true peace can only be found in Jesus. When you know that your sins are forgiven, that you're accepted by God, and that nothing can separate you from His love, you experience a peace that the world cannot give or take away.

This peace isn't dependent on your performance or perfection. It's based on what Jesus has already accomplished. The baby born in Bethlehem grew up to pay the price for your peace with God. That peace is available to you right now.

Bible Verse

'And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.' - Philippians 4:7

Reflection Question

In what areas of your life are you seeking peace in the wrong places instead of finding it in your relationship with God?

Quote

“It is through Jesus Christ that you can know peace. And I'm talking about real peace. I'm talking about the peace he brings between you and God.”

Prayer

Prince of Peace, thank You for making peace between me and God possible. Help me rest in the peace that comes from knowing I'm forgiven and loved by You. Guard my heart and mind with Your perfect peace. Amen.
