Faith Tested in the Waiting

Patience isn't something you can manufacture through willpower or positive thinking - it's something God produces in us through the process of waiting. Every believer has been given a race to run, a God-appointed course that includes seasons of waiting. These aren't detours from God's plan; they're essential parts of it. Faith is tested most severely not in the crisis itself, but in the waiting that precedes God's intervention. When we get impatient and try to run ahead of God's timing, we're not just struggling - we're being disobedient. Impatience is essentially telling God that we know better than He does about timing and methods. The disciples wanted Jesus to go to Bethany immediately. Martha and Mary wanted Him to arrive before Lazarus died. But Jesus had a different timeline, one that would result in a greater miracle than anyone imagined. Your waiting isn't wasted time - it's faith-building time. God uses these seasons to develop character, deepen trust, and prepare us for the miracle He has planned. You can't speed God up, and you shouldn't try to.

Bible Verse

'Then he said to his disciples, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up."' - John 11:11

Reflection Question

How has God used seasons of waiting in your life to build your faith and character, and what might He be developing in you right now?

Prayer

Lord, help me embrace the waiting seasons as opportunities to grow in faith. Give me patience to trust Your perfect timing rather than rushing ahead of Your plan. Amen.
