Faith Alone in Christ Alone

Have you ever felt like you weren't doing enough for God? Like your salvation depended on checking off a spiritual to-do list? This struggle isn't new. In Paul's day, false teachers were telling believers that faith in Jesus wasn't sufficient - they needed to add circumcision and law-keeping to their salvation. Paul's response was fierce because he understood what was at stake. When we add anything to faith in Christ, we're essentially saying His sacrifice wasn't enough. But here's the beautiful truth: you are saved solely by your faith in Jesus Christ. Not by baptism, not by speaking in tongues, not by your good works or religious activities. These things may be expressions of your faith, but they're not requirements for salvation. Your salvation rests entirely on what Jesus accomplished, not on what you can accomplish. This isn't a license for laziness; it's freedom to serve God out of love rather than fear.

Bible Verse

'That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved' - Romans 10:9

Reflection Question

What 'extras' have you been tempted to add to your salvation, and how does knowing salvation is by faith alone change your relationship with God?

Quote

“You are saved solely by your faith in Jesus Christ, not by what you do, not by what you offer, not by any work of your own hands. You're saved because you are saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone.”-Jimmy Clendenin

Prayer

Thank You, Jesus, that my salvation depends entirely on You and not on my performance. Help me rest in this truth and serve You from a heart of gratitude. Amen.
