Eyes on Jesus
When Peter walked on water, he accomplished the impossible - as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus. The moment he focused on the wind and waves, he began to sink. This powerful moment reveals a fundamental truth about Christian living: our focus determines our faith. Peter could have walked around the entire Sea of Galilee if he had maintained his focus on Christ. But like many of us, he got distracted by his circumstances. The storm was real, the waves were threatening, but Jesus was greater than both.
We face the same choice daily. We can focus on our problems - financial stress, relationship conflicts, health concerns, uncertain futures - or we can fix our eyes on Jesus. When we focus on our weaknesses and circumstances, we become unusable, just like Peter in that moment.
The miraculous becomes possible when we keep our minds on Christ rather than earthly things. This doesn't mean ignoring reality, but rather viewing our reality through the lens of God's power and promises.
Where is your focus today?
Bible Verse
'"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.' - Matthew 14:28-29
Reflection Question
What circumstances are currently pulling your focus away from Jesus, and how can you redirect your attention to Him?
Quote
As long as we keep our minds on Christ, as long as we keep our minds on earthly things, as long as we keep our eyes on Jesus Christ, we can accomplish the miraculous, right?
Prayer
Jesus, help me keep my eyes fixed on You today. When circumstances threaten to overwhelm me, remind me of Your power and presence. Amen.
